Gopher Electronics Company is a regional, industrial distributor of electronic components.  The Company is a franchised distributor for approximately 60 world-class manufacturers of electro-mechanical components.  Gopher Electronics purchases products from these suppliers, inventories the parts in Minnesota and distributes them to a large number of customers worldwide.

History

Gopher Electronics Company was incorporated on July 1, 1952 by Eugene M. DeLonais on Minnesota Street in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota.  From the beginning Gene’s vision was the creation of a family-owned industrial electronics distributor.  The Company was successful from the very start and continues as such because of a steadfast dedication to provide customers the best service in the industry, willingness to inventory parts to meet end customer needs and commitment to conduct business at the highest level of ethical standards.

Gene and his brother Don DeLonais, who served as operations and financial manager, had the vision of applying computer technology to the business of distribution.  As a result, as early as 1966 computers were introduced into the operation of the Company.  This progressive use of systems technology remains a Company strength and legacy to this day.

In 1984, the Company was purchased by Norris Carnes who continued the strong commitment to superior customer service. Norris Carnes retired in December of 2004. His son, Whit Carnes, an electronics distribution veteran of 20 years and Gopher employees through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan now own the Company and will carry forward the tradition of customer service excellence.
